Lilley Lovett Theatre Group is delighted to announce that our 2026 show will be Matilda Jr.

Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved story, Matilda Jr is a fun, high-energy musical packed with unforgettable songs, bold characters and a big message: even if you’re little, you can do a lot.

We are currently welcoming new children who would love to be in the show. Here’s what you need to know to take part:

Who Can Be In The Show?

Matilda Jr is open to:

• Junior Lilley Lovett Members
• Senior Lilley Lovett Members
• New children in key stage 2 – 5 (approx aged 7 – 18 years) who are interested in joining Lilley Lovett Theatre Group

No previous experience is required – just enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to have fun and learn.

Children are welcome to come along for two trial sessions before committing to anything.

Auditions

Auditions are only required for children who would like to be considered for named roles. Children who would prefer to be part of the ensemble (with no solo singing or spoken lines) do not need to audition.

For children who would like to be considered for a named role, auditions will take place on 21 & 22 March 2026.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be during our usual Lilley Lovett sessions on:

• Monday 4.30pm – 6.30pm for Junior members
• Saturday 10am – 1pm for Senior members

In addition, we will run the following Sunday rehearsals for all cast members:

• Sunday 20 September 2026, 10am – 4pm
• Sunday 4 October 2026, 10am – 4pm

Tech & Dress Rehearsals

There will be tech and dress rehearsals almost every day from:

• Saturday 24 October – Thursday 29 October 2026

These rehearsals are essential for the cast to work with lighting, sound, costumes, and staging ahead of performances and therefore attendance is compulsory. A full schedule will be confirmed nearer the time.

Performance Dates

Performances will take place on the following dates:

• Thursday 29 October 2026
• Friday 30 October 2026
• Saturday 31 October 2026
